Summer is the perfect time of the year to enjoy Madrid outdoors with its traditional terraces, outdoor movie theaters, or its famous outdoor music festivals. In URSO Hotel and Spa, we provide you with this short summer guide so that you can enjoy your luxurious vacations in the capital city.

Art that you cannot miss: the “Triangulo del Arte” (The art triangle) from Madrid, formed by the museums “El Museo del Prado”, “Thyssen-Bornemisza”, and “Reina Sofía”, are without a doubt a mandatory stop for the paintings lovers. Furthermore, Madrid has a great amount of collections, shows, and temporary exhibitions of great interest. Among these we highlight the temporary exhibitions “Monet/Boudin” in the “Thyssen-Bornemisza” museum, “El Senegal elegante de la primera mitad del siglo XX” (The elegant Senegal of the the first half of the 20th Century) in the “Circulo de Bellas Artes”, “Quietud y Vértigo” (Stillness and Vertigo) in the “Museo Cerralbo”, or “Lujo y Luto” (Luxury and Mourning) in the “Museo ABC”.

Summer Cinema: During the months of July and August, Madrid becomes a real city of movies with its summer cinemas that are organized in different neighborhoods. Nights of outdoor movie screenings with a great variety of movies, ranging from the newest releases, to classics and family movies.

Excursions: Among all the possible day trips, we propose a cultural day of legends and myths with an excursion to Toledo, also known as the imperial city, through a guided tour to the “Museo del Greco”, the cathedral, and many monuments and archeological sites.

Or if you prefer, enjoy a breathtaking trip with your family to another period of time with an excursion to “El Escorial” aboard the “Felipe II” train, a locomotor and traveler train wagons of the 20th century that will allow for you to get to know the history and monumental richness of “El Escorial” in a very special way with this almost-worthy-of-kings experience.

Outdoor Music Festivals: Madrid’s most traditional festivalstake place during August’s first fortnight; these celebrations attract thousands of people of all ages each year to experience an event that unites tradition with modernity. The most famous parties are the “Fiestas de San Cayetano” in the Rasto/Embajadores neighborhood, “Fiestas de San Lorenzo” in Lavapiés, and the “Verbana de la Paloma”, and “La Latina” neighborhoods.
