Easter is the perfect time to experience different activities as a family related to history, traditions, nature, gastronomy, or even all at the same time! Our concierge has listed some proposals that mix culture and leisure for you to enjoy Madrid’s outdoors:
Route of convents
Embark on a centuries-old route that will take you through the most famous convents around Madrid, to enjoy typical Easter artisan sweets. Visit the Corpus Christi Monastery (in the heart of the Austrias neighbourhood) where the scent of anise is so characteristic, or visit the San Diego Convent where the popular caramelised almonds are made.
Complete this sweet moment at the Media Ración restaurant, tasting our Madridean “torrijas” served with brioche bread, sprinkled with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon and accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. One of the best torrijas in Madrid, according to the national newspaper “El Mundo”.
Quinta de los Molinos
This country house in the northeast of Madrid has approximately 1.500 almond trees that bloom at the beginning of spring, decorating the gardens with a palette of pink and white, and filling the environment with its soft fragrance. An authentic exhibition of nature that you can enjoy inside the city.
El Escorial
Discover the history and monumental wealth of El Escorial in an exceptional natural environment. A space created to commemorate the Battle of San Quintín, with a large number of monuments such as the Royal Monastery – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 -, the Historic Gardens or the Chair of Felipe II, a natural observatory where you can contemplate the Monastery and the Sierra de Guadarrama’s natural landscape.
Royal Botanical Garden,
Just a 20-minute walk from URSO, these well-kept gardens are a true sanctuary in the centre of Madrid. The Royal Botanical Garden has the largest variety of botany in the capital, as well as a herbarium with more than one million leaves, the library and an archive, with about 10.000 drawings and a sample of 5.000 plant species.
If during your stay at URSO in Easter you wish to receive more information regarding these or any other plan, please contact our Reception.
