Opera at the Teatro Real

In URSO Hotel we propose you to enjoy the theater and operas that Madrid offers, as a cultural plan for the winter evenings of the capital. For this, what better than the Teatro Real, considered as the “first institution of the performing arts in Spain”, as “national opera of reference” and as “one of the three main Spanish cultural institutions”, to enjoy incredible shows of national and international character.

Currently, the Teatro Real offers the possibility of enjoying the premiere in Spain of “Dead Man Walking”, the first opera by composer Jake Heggie, based on the homonymous book by Sister Helen Prejean, which was taken to the cinema by Tim Robbins under the title “Death penalty”.

An opera whose purpose is to reflect on the death penalty in some American prisons and, at the same time, on the redemptive power of love.

From January 26 to February 9, enjoy the voice of mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who will give life at the Teatro Real to Sister Helen Prejean, star of the drama, under the musical direction of Mark Wigglesworth and scenic of Leonardo Foglia.

In addition, the Teatro Real offers El Real Junior, ideal shows to enjoy Madrid as a family, throughout the year.
