Holy Week in Madrid

As the Holy Week approaches, Madrid comes alive with vibrant colors, lively processions, and religious fervor. For those staying at our boutique hotel, there are plenty of exciting things to do during this time of year. From attending traditional processions to indulging in local delicacies, Madrid offers a truly unique experience during Holy Week.

One of the most spectacular events to witness during this celebration is the procession of La Macarena. This procession is known for its stunning floats and solemn music that fills the streets of Madrid. Visitors can also attend the procession of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, which is considered one of the most emotional and intense processions of the week, characterised by the silence, the seriousness and the discipline with which the brothers and sisters accompany the Blessed Virgin Mary in her sorrow, throughout her journey.

For those who want to indulge in some local delicacies during these ceremonious dates, Madrid has something to satisfy every palate. During the Holy Week, many traditional dishes are prepared such as torrijas, a type of bread pudding that is soaked in milk and then fried, resulting in a soft and delicate texture. Urso Hotel & Spa’s restaurant – Casa Felisa – offers one of the best in Madrid, served with a delicate vanilla ice cream and a touch of cinnamon.

In addition to attending processions and trying local cuisine, visitors can also explore Madrid’s historic sites and museums. From the famous Prado Museum to the stunning Royal Palace, there are plenty of cultural treasures to discover in this magnificent city.

At Urso Hotel & Spa, we are committed to providing our guests with a memorable and luxurious experience. Whether you choose to attend a procession, sample local delicacies, or explore the city’s rich history, Madrid offers a truly unique and unforgettable Holy Week experience.
